W4 high-speed steel is a tool steel with high hardness, high wear resistance and high heat resistance, also known as high-speed tool steel or front steel, commonly known as white steel.

Carbon C: 1.00 to 1.10 (tolerance: 0.01) Silicon Si: 0.20 to 0.45 (tolerance: 0.05)

Manganese Mn: 0.15 ~ 0.40 (allowance: +0.04) Sulfur S: ≤0.030

Phosphorus P: ≤0.030 Chromium Cr: 3.75 ~ 4.50 (allowable deviation: 0.05)

Nickel Ni: Allowable residual content ≤0.30 Copper Cu: Allowable residual content ≤0.25

Vanadium V: 2.25 ~ 2.75 (allowance: 0.05)    

Molybdenum Mo: 4.75 ~ 6.50 (allowance: size ≤ 6,0.05; size > 6,0.10)

Tungsten W: 5.00 ～ 6.75 (allowable deviation: size≤10,0.10; size＞10,0.20)

Mechanical properties:

Hardness: delivery hardness: (other processing methods) ≤ 269HB; (annealing) ≤ 255HB.

Sample heat treatment system and quenching and tempering hardness: ≥64HRC

Heat treatment specifications: quenching, preheating at 730-840 ℃,

 1190 ～ 1210 ℃ (salt bath furnace) or 

1200 ~ 1220 ℃ (box furnace) heating,

Oil cooling, 540 ~ 560 ℃ tempering 2 times, 2h each time.
